Installation.

As soon as the leadership seminar ended, the hall was crowded with a big number of interactors from the nine schools in Klang district. All the interactors were present to attend the installation and the award giving ceremony. Everyone gathered in the hall and was settled down by 1.30 p.m. Shona Ann Thomas was the emcee for the glorious event.

The interactors installed comes from the nine schools in Klang district including SMK Convent Klang, SMK Perempuan Methodhist Klang (MGS), SMK Methodhist Acs Klang (ACS), SMK La Salle Klang, SMK(P) Raja Zarina Klang, SMK Tinggi Klang, SMK Batu Unjur Klang, SMK Sultan Abdul Samad Klang and SMK Taman Klang Utama. The incoming board members of the Interact Coordinating Council (ICC) were also installed by the past president, Mahalatchmi Subramaniam.

Presidents of all school were given two minutes to give a speech and the jewels were then passed on to the incoming board members. As Mahalatchmi was the former president of ICC, she was given five minutes to deliver her thank you speech to the Rotarians and Interactors.
In between the installation process, each school sent their representative to perform. All of them were spectacular and entertaining. A few students from MGS sang "Waka Waka, It's Time For Africa" by Shakira in conjunction with the FIFA World Cup season. Everyone enjoyed their performance and sang along with them.

Recruitment of new members

On the 20th of July 2010, the board members of Interact Club had a meeting on how to conduct the new members recruitment and as well as selecting a date to conduct this recruitment. We prepared the questions for the interview.

We also suggested that each and everyone attending the interview to bring some recycling items to be recycled. We had the interview on the 29th of July. Approximately about 60 students came for the interview. The interview was opened to all Form 2, Form 3 and Form 4 students.

The board members of the Interact Cub interviewed them by asking several selected questions.
After the interview, we had another meeting to recruit the members based on their reliability of their answers during the interview session. The names of the selected members were then printed out and stuck onto the notice board.

Recycling Drive

On the 10th of July 2010, we cleaned the recycling bins at school. This was the first recycling activity for the first term of 2010/2011. This was held on a Saturday, from 9.30 to 11.30 a.m.

This activity was held for about two hours as about 30 Convent interactors cleaned the recycling bins which were extremely filled to the brim. This club service cum fund raising acitivity was a success as many hands make light work. The bins were cleaned in a jiffy. Besides, some of the interactors took extra effort to dig out plastic bottles, paper and plastic cups as well as packet drinks from the rubbish bins around the school compound. As recycling has become our policy, we did not mind stuffing our hands into the dirty bins just to dig out more recycling items. After all, these are the least we can do to save the environment.

The cleaning of the recycling bins is part of the Recycling Campaign of the club. We sorted out the recycling items into its own category, naming from plastics, paper and tins and we sold them. We managed to get RM30 out of it and this will be channeled to the account of our club to be used for future activities.

We hope that the Recycling Drive that our club is running will be a favourable outcome and we encourage more students to make use of these recycling bins in order to benefit the environment.
